Many people seem to focus on how to best prepare for the arrival of their installation crew. They take down doors, set up work areas and, basically, go completely overboard trying to get ready for the big day. While we always appreciate these efforts, in the end, they really aren't required. There are actually very few things you need to worry about to get ready. Here's everything you need to do to get ready for your big flooring installation without going beyond the call of duty:
It's important to ensure that pets and children are kept away from the worksite, through the duration of the project. Work sites are dangerous places filled with all sorts of things that a curious child or pet could get into, that could harm them.
If your children are old enough to have the situation explained to them, tell them how they need to give the workers plenty of space to operate, and that the site can be dangerous. If your children are too young to be reasoned with, consider sending them off to grandma's, or to stay with a friend during work hours, to ensure they are safe and out of the way.
Since there's usually no reasoning with pets, it's best to find an out of the way place they can be kept, that keeps them from entering the work site.
You've Got The Power...
...and we're going to need it! Make sure that you let your crew know about any useful power outlets in or around the work site. Also, make sure that nothing is still plugged into any conveniently located outlets, so your crew can get straight to business. This will save you money on labor, and will also ensure that the job is done as quickly as possible, so you can go back to your normal daily life.
Clear the Way
Finally, you're going to want to make sure that the work areas and any hallways leading outside from them, are free of any clutter on the floor. This will allow your crew to get straight to work, in a free and clear work site, and will also allow them to efficiently move to and from outdoor cutting areas. This seems like such a simple thing to do, but it really helps move things along nicely when it's done.
